We are delighted to announce that INEX will serve as the local host for the ICANN84 Annual General Meeting, taking place from 25–30 October 2025 at the Convention Centre Dublin.
This meeting was originally scheduled to be held in Oman. Following the decision to move the meeting to Dublin, we were approached by ICANN to act as local host, as we did in 2015. While our window to develop extensive plans is limited due to the short notice, we will endeavour to support them in any way we can to deliver another successful ICANN meeting in Dublin.
INEX does not currently engage extensively in internet governance discussions but we all rely deeply on the work and outcomes of those who do. The policies and systems shaped through ICANN’s global, multi-stakeholder processes are critical to maintaining a secure, stable and open internet on which all our networks, services and organisations depend. ICANN meetings bring together people from every corner of the globe with a mix of government representatives, civil society, private sector, technical communities and academia gathering to collaborate on the governance of the internet’s core infrastructure. INEX is proud to support and host this important gathering.
In our letter of invitation to delegates, we have noted that Ireland has strong traditions of diplomacy and consensus-building and offers an ideal setting for the kind of inclusive dialogue ICANN wishes to foster. Our culture values listening, conversation and finding common ground, all of which are essential in internet governance and we are hopeful that Dublin will once again serve as a fruitful location for making progress.
The ICANN meeting is free to participate in and we would encourage all our members to consider whether they might attend and ensure that their voices and hopes for the future of the internet are shared. The multistakeholder model depends on diverse participation from all sectors and regions and ICANN84 is an opportunity not only to observe internet governance in action but also to actively help shape it.
