We will shortly be making some changes to the INEX mailing lists in order to make it easier for members to communicate with each other and foster more communication within the membership community. These changes, which were endorsed by the INEX Board in a recent meeting, will also help to ensure important INEX communications are clear and easy to find.
The current members@inex.ie and tech@inex.ie lists will become announcement-only lists for official INEX communications and we will also introduce two new opt-in lists:
– members-discuss@inex.ie for general member discussion
– tech-discuss@inex.ie for technical discussion between members
We want to give member discussions a clear home and make it easier for people to ask questions, share experience and raise technical or operational issues with other members. We know some members haven’t used the INEX mailing lists in the past for discussions they would like to socialise and get community feedback on. We are pleased to make this change in order to make it easier for them to do so, on either technical or non-technical matters.
It also means that member representatives and network operations teams, who do not want to receive regular discussion traffic, can continue to get the important communications from INEX without having to follow the wider conversation.
Members of both lists can opt-in to either or both new mailing lists by logging into IXP Manager at https://www.inex.ie/ixp/and browsing to the “My Account” and then “Profile” page (top-right menu). We have also added a banner on your dashboard in IXP Manager so that everyone, even those who are not on either list currently, has the opportunity to join. Please feel free to circulate details of the mailing lists to others in your member organisation who may be interested to join. If you have any issues in subscribing please email operations@inex.ie
