The short answer is no, not yet. The configuration changes are pretty 
minor, and perhaps we’ll add support in the next release—but we would 
flag it as beta and not recommend it in production at this point. Having 
observed a couple IXPs try it, it doesn’t seem ready for production just 
yet.

There’s at least one IXP on this list that has tried it and switched 
back to v2, but it’s not for me to recount their experience.

>At MICE, we are seeing at least a couple of participants time out when the BIRD update process happens. My assumption is that BIRD is getting overwhelmed processing the configuration file. And since BIRD 2 is single-threaded, that blocks everything, leading to BGP timeouts. Thus, I am _assuming_ (without any testing or evidence) that BIRD 3 would help with this.
