[ixpmanager] Upgrade From v3

Yes, I'm working with 4.5 through https://docs.ixpmanager.org/install/upgrade-v3/

Previously, I was told to build it from scratch, not using a script. I'll start over using the script you linked to.

Hi Mike,

You're mixing up v4.9 documentation with early versions of 4.x. There are only one or two sites left running v3 and the docs.ixpmanager.org/install/manually/ page no longer caters for the upgrade.

If you want to upgrade from v3, you need to check out v4.5.0 from git, then run the tools/installers/ubuntu-lts-1604-ixp-manager-v4.sh script in order to get a basic installation of IXP Manager running.

Once you have a basic 4.5.0 installation operating, you need to go through the rest of the v3 upgrade process:

https://docs.ixpmanager.org/install/upgrade-v3/

I.e. make a copy of the database then move that over first, then handle the configuration fix-ups.

When you have a v4.5.0 working satisfactorily, you'll need to upgrade sequentially to v4.6, v4.7, v4.8 and finally v4.9.

I'm working on the composer install. I'm getting:

The installation directory "/srv/ixpmanager" is not writable

However:

root at ixpm:/srv/ixpmanager# ls -hal .
total 1.1M
drwxrwxr-x 21 root root 4.0K Jan 18 18:27 .

It is indeed writable to root and group. What more do I need?

yep, exactly. It's not very difficult, but is also not possible to automate.

What do you mean by porting? I'm going to assume something more complex than moving the config to the new file name and location.

Would I be looking at a v4 .env file and creating a new .env file, based on the information in the old applications.ini?

yes, that's accurate if you're upgrading from v3. The further along the
4.x branch things proceed, the more you need to build from scratch. You
need to follow all the release notes for all the 4.x branch releases
because there were some substantial changes along the way.

I am looking at: http://docs.ixpmanager.org/install/upgrade-v3/

For one of our IXes, we started with v4 and used the install script to do that. I liked the script because it presented fewer chances of me screwing it up. The v3 upgrade instructions seem to have us building the v4 environment from scratch. I just want to make sure that's accurate before proceeding.

Can I mod the script to check out 4.5 and then just run the script to setup the environment?
