[ixpmanager] unable to configure SMTP

I tried to configure SMTP:

MAIL_DRIVER=smtp
MAIL_HOST=server1.minap.it
MAIL_PORT=25
MAIL_PRETEND=false

But ixpmanager is still trying to use /usr/sbin/sendmail.
Any hints?

(BTW, MAIL_PRETEND is not documented in config/.)
