Now back to matching the Bird portions of your config to an OpenBGPd config. I thought I was nearly there until I realized that Bird supports if then statements. I had assumed that was part of the PHP code to generate the file thus far. 

Generate config, see what came out, see what needs to be changed to make a usable config, repeat 

Since I'm no beacon of OpenBGPd greatness, I figured the surest way to make a good config wasn't to go with what had worked for me in the past, but to match what what you had to the OpenBGPd language, adding things I have were necessary.
