Hi Brian,

The default location is under cgi-bin alright. I normally adjust apache but you can just adjust application.ini.

</div>Thank you Barry, the light bulb just came on.  I have been working with IXP for months trying to get one function at a time to work.

I have always assumed skinning was purely a visual modification of the webUI.

If you could be so kind.

I am running IXP on Ubuntu 12.10 as I was told it would just work, after I could not get an installation running on CentOS.

I have "apt-get install smokeping" and can get to the webUI at http://portal.nwax.net/cgi-bin/smokeping.cgi.

Most of the documentation infers http://portal.nwax.net/smokeping is this nessacery and should I adjust apache or should I adjust my application.ini file?

This is explained in the documentation:

https://github.com/inex/IXP-Manager/wiki/Smokeping#smokeping-configuration

Specifically:

See the template files here which use some of the variables you set
in application.ini above. If you want to change these, please do so
via the skinning mechanism.

And the template file that needs to be skinned in this case is:

Where does this come from?

smokeping-cli.gen-conf generates /etc/smokeping/config which has

# binary = /usr/bin/fping binary = /usr/local/sbin/fping # binary =
/usr/bin/fping6 binary = /usr/local/sbin/fping6

although my fping is /usr/bin/fping

I do not see these paths in application/configs/application.ini

Of course I can change this but streamlining installation and
configuration

Thanks, Brian
